Situated approximately two hours North-West of Melbourne, Maryborough is home to one of Victoria's premier Country Harness Racing Clubs.

The town plays host to 34 day harness racing meetings each season at the Bendigo Bank Complex, Carisbrook, a complex which is recognised for its immaculate surrounds, critically-acclaimed track and excellent public facilities. Its trademark is delectable home-style catering.

Maryborough's flagship event is the Redwood All Trotting Carnival, the most unique, popular and successful harness racing event on Victoria's provincial calendar.

Recently expanded to a three-day celebration, the Carnival draws visitors from throughout Australia and New Zealand.

It is the nation's only event which incorporates two full days of racing exclusively for trotters.

In 2008, the Seelite Windows & Doors Redwood Classic runs from Friday 18th July to Sunday 20th July. It commences with a Friday afternoon meeting comprising eight races.

The highlight will be the $6,000 Harness Racing International Gold Bracelet, a feature race for three-year-old fillies which carries a $1,000 gold bracelet for winning connections.

Saturday's program incorporates Australia's only all-age standardbred auction for trotters, and a dinner dance. Both are staged at the Bendigo Bank Complex.

Sunday's Seelite Windows & Doors Redwood Classic is a Group 1 event for the first time, boasting a $50,000 purse.

On the first Monday in November, as a prelude to Melbourne Cup celebrations, Maryborough conducts its highly successful Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Pacing Cup meeting.

Trials are also staged every Sunday morning from 8.45am. Admission is free and members of the public are welcome to attend.
